Due to overwhelming response to the post with the photos of the wearing your seat belt, instructor Steve Heidbreder, a Captain with the Metro West Fire Protection District, and Instructor here at Engine House Training LLC has created a video showing techniques for buckling up and donning your SCBA and how to wear your radio on a strap. The radio strap is worn under your gear, protecting the radio and its components. Be sure to send your friends and fellow firefighter here for similar information and training ideas.

This is good stuff, however, we just went through training on those radios and Motorola says those remote mics shall not be worn upside down because they will not drain water. Thoughts?
Frank Lipski says
That is a good point Scott. I don’t think that was a teaching point from Motorola then as it is now. We teach as you explain to rotate the mic and place it through the loop with the drain hole down. In my department’s case, the radio mic tab on our gear has been moved up and to the left which seems easier to make the mic orientation correct. Thanks for sharing that valuable point with the community.
